THROUGH CHANGING SCENES events are entertaining presentations designed to lead the audience through the experiences of a community over many generations, and often many centuries. Usually based around a particular church, the narrative is interspersed with thematically or historically related musical items performed by From earliest records, we are introduced to key characters and events and reminded of the many changes within the locality over the years as well as topical links to national and international events. The result is an informal, entertaining and highly varied performance with a diverse array of music, from the other-wordly serenity of plainchant to the rumbustious, the ribald and - when the gallery band is allowed out - the down-right raucous. |

The idea of Through Changing Scenes came about quite by chance from a post-rehearsal chat between members of a church choir and one of the church-wardens, who just happened to be updating a written history of the church. One thing led to another and the first event, then entitled Tuneful Accord (the ensemble adopted the name later on), took place on a cold, wet January Saturday back in 1993. The audience reaction was fortunately anything but cold; calls for a repeat performance were soon forthcoming and were willingly met, in more clement conditions, the following summer. Then came the first of what has been a gentle stream of requests from other churches and parishes to build a performance around the history of that area and community. Over a decade and a half later the requests are still coming and, to date, has notched up 28 TCS performances. We have also sung for a wedding or two and in September 2006 we gave our first recital.
